The terms that apply when you work with me.

Who this is for

These terms apply when you book a website, care plan or any other paid work with me. I'm Bill Maynard, trading as Made by Orbit, a sole trader based in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. If anything here is unclear, ask me before you pay a deposit — I'd rather explain it than have you find out later.

Quotes and prices

Every quote is a fixed price, agreed before any work starts, for the scope we've discussed. I'm not VAT registered, so the price you see is the price you pay — no VAT added on top. If you ask for something beyond the agreed scope partway through (extra pages, features or a different package), I'll quote that separately before doing it.

Payment

For website builds, I ask for 50% to start work and the remaining 50% before your site goes live. For care plans and other ongoing work, I invoice monthly in advance. For one-off extras (Go Digital setup, dashboards, automations), I ask for payment on completion unless we've agreed otherwise.

If you cancel

If you cancel a website build after paying your deposit, the deposit isn't refundable — it covers the design and development time already spent getting your project underway. If you cancel before any work has started, get in touch and I'll sort out a refund.

Revisions

Every website build includes two rounds of revisions on the design and content before go-live. Further changes beyond that can usually be handled through your monthly care plan minutes, or I'll quote for the extra time if it's a bigger job.

Delivery times

The timeframes I quote (typically 2–3 weeks for an Essential site, 3–4 weeks for Signature) are estimates based on a normal project, not a fixed deadline. They depend on getting what I need from you on time — photos, copy, logins and so on — and on nothing unforeseen coming up on my side. If something's going to run later than expected, I'll tell you as soon as I know, rather than let the date quietly slip.

Hosting and care plans

Every site I build comes with a hosting and care plan (Essentials or Growth), billed monthly. You can cancel at any time — there's no minimum term. If you cancel your care plan, your site will need hosting arranged elsewhere; I'll give you reasonable notice and help make sure nothing goes offline unexpectedly.

Ownership, and if you ever leave

You own your domain name and everything you give me — your content, photos, logo and branding. There's no lock-in: if you ever want to leave, I'll hand over a full copy of your website so you or someone else can take it from there.

Your content

You're responsible for making sure anything you give me to put on your site — text, photos, logos, testimonials — is yours to use, or that you have permission to use it. I won't knowingly publish anything that infringes someone else's rights, and I'll flag it if something looks off.

Liability

I'll do the work with reasonable care and skill. If something does go wrong that's my fault, my liability is limited to the amount you've paid me for the relevant work. I'm not liable for indirect losses (like lost profits or lost bookings) or for problems caused by third-party services your site depends on (such as Formspree, your booking software, or your hosting provider once it's outside my care plan).

Changes to these terms

I may update these terms from time to time, mainly to keep them accurate as the business grows. Any changes won't apply retroactively to work already agreed under the old terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
